MAYA…

Who am I that sings with the lyre of your breath?
Who am I that quivers with the aura of your touch?
Who am I that melts into the fragrance of the rain-dampened earth?
Who am I that exists for you and as the essence in you?
I… the black, grey, white ocean of your desires,
I… that eye of an all-enveloping gyre.
I… enlightening wisdom, yet the delicacy of your sweet innocence,
I… the presence felt in all your absences.
I… that dreams those dreams under your shut lids,
I… the need beyond all your needs.
I… the mercurial silver of your words and the cool mint of your silences,
I… that tangy liveliness of your senses.
I… the rhythm of the cosmic dance,
I… the world names me dark romance.
Who am I that is crazier than the spring butterflies?
Who am I more sinister than the hunting wasps under the night sky?
Who am I the union of all opposites?
Who am I that mirrors you, yet is your antithesis?
I’m that which belong to all,
Yet none is mine.
I’m the force that you feel but never do see.
I’m Maya-the eternal witness.
The epitome of power, yet a residue of malicious innocence.
